Q When you begin to explore talking to individuals about their mental health, it can make some people nervous, especially if it is not a common topic discussed around you. Learning new skills can be intimidating at times and one way to learn is through others. For your post this module: Either share something that makes you nervous about addressing mental health, mental health disorders, or a mental health crises, with people or what helped you feel more comfortable having these conversations. As a young woman, I had always been taught to keep my emotions in check, to put on a brave face and move forward no matter what life threw my way. But after the loss of my beloved grandmother, the weight of grief became too much to bear alone. I found myself struggling with depression and thoughts of hopelessness, but talking about it made me incredibly nervous. The fear of being judged or misunderstood was always at the forefront of my mind. I was afraid that others would see me as weak or incapable of handling my own problems. I didn't want to burden my friends and family with my struggles, so I kept my feelings to myself and isolated myself from the world.
